The Town of Manchester MA seeks a creative, team oriented professional to serve as Director of Public Works.  Under the direction of the Town Manager, oversees all operational and maintenance aspects of the community’s streets & roadways, wastewater, parks & grounds, facilities management, public utilities and transfer station operation.

BA/BS in Engineering, Public or Business Administration, or closely related field strongly preferred; 8 to 10 years of experience in construction management, project supervision and general administration or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.  Experience in winter storm response, facilities operation and maintenance, project planning and team-oriented citizen service delivery is essential.  The ideal candidate will have strong budget & management skills, a team oriented leadership style and demonstrated enthusiasm and imagination in pursuit of creative solutions to meet public works challenges.  The salary range is $95K - $105K DOQ&E along with an excellent benefit package.

The Town of Natick, Massachusetts (pop. 33,000), is seeking to fill the position of Fire Chief.  The Department consists of 78 fulltime uniformed civil service employees, with an operating budget of 7.9 million.  Appointed by the Board of Selectmen and under the administrative oversight of the Town Administrator, the Fire Chief serves as a key member of the Town’s management team.  A minimum of two years post high school education is required, with advanced degrees in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Homeland Security, Business or Public Administration, as well as, a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officers Program are preferred.  In addition, candidates should be credentialed as a Massachusetts Fire Chief, or have the ability to become one upon appointment.  Interested candidates must have a minimum of seven years experience in fire suppression, as well as a minimum of five years supervisory experience.  Candidates must have demonstrated experience and skill within the following critical areas:  budgeting; collaborative interagency relationships; labor management relations in a unionized environment; fire; EMS; and emergency management.  Full compensation and benefits package are negotiable.   The Town of Natick is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, sexual orientation or age.

The Town of Newton, NH (pop 4600), is seeking an experienced fire officer for the position of part-time fire chief.  Newton is located in southeastern NH on the MA border. This Chief is expected to work approximately 25 hours per week, to maintain regular office hours, and to be available for emergency call-backs.  The Newton Fire Department is comprised of a committed corps of on-call staff and is responsible for providing all traditional fire services to this community.  Although EMS transports are handled by a private ambulance service, the fire department is a first responder.  The Fire Chief reports, and is directly responsible to, a 5 member Board of Selectmen.  The successful candidate will have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Fire Science, Public Administration, or closely related field, and 10 years experience in fire service, with at least 5 years of supervisory experience; or any combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of required knowledge, skills, & abilities.
